The Opel Plus series has taken the Opel family of catalytic fireplaces to the next level. EPA certified at just 0.7 g/hr, the Opel 2 Plus is one of the most advanced and cleanest units available on the market today — yet it still maintains its classic, elegant styling. In the past, Popular Science Magazine recommended the Opel for its efficiency and reduction of emissions. Over the years this technology has only improved and been refined to make the Opel Plus what it is today.
Catalyst Care Tips
- Burn natural wood only — no chemical cleaners, treated wood, driftwood, construction scrap, or garbage
- Use the optional Digital Temperature Display (FO-DTD) to monitor catalyst temperature
- Maintain catalyst temperature between 175°C (350°F) and 700°C (1300°F)
- Remove cooled ash with a soft bristle brush; vacuum use near the face is permitted but avoid direct contact
- Clean visible face only — never use scrapers or hard bristle brushes
Available Options
- Louvers for the Opel — Regular black (FO-OPLB), decorative black (FO-OPLC), or no louvers (FO-F3)
- Opel Louver Trim — Portrait-style frame to cover rough-cut edges around the upper louver opening
- Gravity Vent Kit — Natural convection heat distribution to same floor and/or floors above
- Clean Face Kit (FO-F3 + FO-V2/V3 ×2) — For clean-face installations; includes cover plates and air duct. Gravity vents required.
- Gravity Vent Damper — Adds control to the Gravity Vent (FO-V2) on louvered fireplaces
- Gravity Vent Kit – Rectangular — Same natural convection in a rectangular format
- Internal Blower Kit — Increases heated air circulation in the room
- Central Heat Blower Kit — Distributes heat throughout multiple rooms and floors via dedicated or existing HVAC ducts
- Central Heating Tee — Allows two gravity vents plus central heat option simultaneously
- Heat Dump Kit — Circulates moderate heat to another room via small fan
- Rock Retainer Kit — For thin non-supporting facing such as tiles
- Masonry Chimney Adapter — Attaches liner to EXCEL chimney with stainless steel rivets and screws
- Door Gasket Replacement Kit 5/8″ & 1/4″ (FO-FDGRK2) — Includes gasket and high-temperature sealant
